Description

Join our weekly Istanbul old city walk. Every Saturday we meet in front of Sirkeci Train Station ticket office at 1.30pm and start our five hour small group walking tour. During this tour, you will visit Gulhane Park, Hagia Sophia Museum, Underground Cistern, Blue Mosque, Hippodrome Square, a historical Turkish coffee house, a renovated Ottoman library and the Grand Bazaar.
On this day we will not only see the historical places and monuments but we will also talk about some very interesting historical events such as Tanzimat Fermanı (the edict that official started westernisation in the Ottomans), stories of Procopius (chronicle of the Byzantine Empire), customs and traditions of the merchants at the Grand Bazaar. Furthermore, we will also get to know the modern Turkish culture, everyday life in Istanbul. It's a very nice mix and match walking tour which introduces Istanbul retrospectively.
